Led by our CTO Bart, the Mavlab won second place and the Airmanship award.
4 October, Delft – This week our CTO Bart Remes led the TU Delft Micro Air Vehicle Laboratory (Mavlab) in the Australia UAV Medical Express Challenge and brought home two prizes: second place overall, and the Airmanship award.
Bart’s “delftAcopter” is unique in that it runs fully on electric power, is a biplane helicopter hybrid, and flies fully autonomously using on-board vision technology. Next, the delftAcopter will be tested for applications and further developed for commercialization.
Bart previously oversaw the development of the world’s smallest camera drone at the Mavlab, as well as the development of open source drone software and hardware.
The Mavlab specializes in tiny, efficient autonomous vehicles.
